Community FAQ

The Catholic Worker Movement is a decentralized, Christian anarchist movement; in general, any community that identifies itself as part of the Catholic Worker tradition and embodies the Aims and Means of the movement may be listed in the directory.

If your organization shares similar goals and values but does not identify as part of the Catholic Worker movement, you may ask to be listed on our Allied Movements and Organizations page. Contact us to ask.

  1. Register for a community account.
  2. If you are already registered, log in.
  3. Once you are registered, fill out the Create or Edit Your CW Community Listing form.
  • If you have previously submitted through the form, log into your account. Go to the Community Dashboard. Click on the edit link next to your listing.
  • If you need to update an existing listing but have not created a CatholicWorker.org account or submitted a listing through this website yet, you will need to submit a new listing. (You can copy the information from your old listing.) Once your listing is approved, it will replace the original listing.

You’ll find more specific tips at the bottom of the Create or Edit Listing page. Briefly:

  • Be specific when describing your community’s unique character and charism.
  • Take advantage of the ability to add community photos and videos.
  • Avoid repeating background information about the Catholic Worker Movement. This might be appropriate on your own website, but it quickly becomes repetitious for someone browsing this directory. Focus on your community’s unique charisms or mission.
  • Carefully identify categories that match what your community does. These will help people find communities that align with their interests.

No. However, your community should generally align with the Aims and Means of the Catholic Worker movement.

New listings are approved manually, usually within 24 hours, but please allow up to a week before contacting us. Edits to your existing listing should appear immediately.

If you have difficulties creating or managing your community listing, or if you just hate dealing with online stuff but still want to be listed, fill out the Get Help from a Human form.
